While it isn’t glamourous and it is sometimes difficult to show it off, adding storage space in your home is practical and an inexpensive way to add value to your home. Many small flats and houses lack storage space but larger homes can as well. Here are three easy ways to add storage space in your house.

Enclose Ceiling Voids

Most kitchen cabinets leave a large amount of space between the ceiling and the top of the cabinet. Instead of leaving this space open, have a contractor enclose it so you can make use of it for dishes that you rarely use. Instead of taking up valuable lower shelf space for holiday platters or those that you only use when guests come over, stick them up on the high shelves and display them behind glass doors.

Add Stair Closet

Most staircases have space beneath them that is not used. This empty space is usually enclosed with plasterboard. Add extra storage by having builders in IP29 convert the space into a closet. It would be a great place for keeping coats, wellies, or holiday decorations.

Floating Shelves

Add wall boxes or single shelves to walls in your kitchen or living room to hold books, photographs or other items that you don’t want taking up counter space. If you rent your flat, wall boxes can be installed to provide extra storage without damaging the walls.

Adding storage space to your home can increase its value if you decide to sell it because people need places for storage.
